"The International [Scientific] Committees (ISCs) are the vehicles through which ICOMOS brings together, develops and serves its worldwide membership according to fields of specialized interest. ICOMOS expects the ISCs to be at the heart of scientific inquiry and exchange in their domains and to share knowledge among them to foster a multi-disciplinary approach to heritage protection and management, in fulfillment of the goals of ICOMOS as stated in Article 5.b. of its statutes: “Gather, study and disseminate information concerning principles, techniques and policies” related to heritage protection." ICOMOS는 다양한 문화유적 테마와 논제에 따라 국제학술분과위원회를 설립하였습니다. 국제학술분과위원회의 회원은 주제의 유능한 전문가들과 각 국의 위원회에 의해 지명된 전문가로 이루어져 있습니다. 국제학술분과위원회는 ICOMOS의 기술적이며 전문적인 조직체입니다. 문화유산에 관련한 조사에 착수하고, 보전에 관련된 이론, 지침, 헌장 등을 구축합니다. 또한 문화유산을 보전하기 위한 더 나은 교육 환경을 육성하며, 국제적으로 정보를 교환하여 공통된 프로젝트를 수행하기 위하여 노력합니다. 그들은 각 분과위원회의 프로그램을 성실히 수행하여 행정 위원회에 제출하여 승인을 얻고 연간 보고서를 발간합니다.
